book for girls

this was a reconstruct/deconstruct project from my book design class. my original idea was to take a bunch of children's books and combine them to form a sort of hyperfairytale. but my professor didn't want me to ruin all of the books, even though i had bought them at goodwill, so it wasn't like they were rare. but i went along with it and was scanning books together and creating the pages on photoshop... but the night before the project was due i was nowhere near finished with it, so i made this book instead.
i used "cinderella" as my base and took the most mysogynistic parts from an archie comic and another terrible girls' book to create the "book for girls."
it's really quite shocking what was in some of these materials meant for children. most shocking was probably the drawing of a character on a scale and doing sit-ups. that book is probably solely responsible for all eating disorders in my generation.
